At the Washington Post’s Monkey Cage blog, Ryan Bakker, Jon Polk and I wrote a post about how Euroscepticism has made for strange bedfellows in European coalitions. In Greece, for instance, the main theme that unites the leftist Syriza and their coalition partner, the right-wing ANEL, is their opposition to the EU. To broaden this beyond Greece, we use the recently released 2014 CHES data. In doing so, we present expert survey data on salience of anti-corruption politics, which is the first time we’ve included these data alongside the ideological and issue position questions in the CHES.
